GOSPEL MEETS CLASSICAL!
The York University Gospel Choir will lift your spirits with the power of the most inspirational gospel anthems of yesterday and today. Hear Gospel Music like you’ve never heard before! This magnificent concert featured a 30-piece orchestra and accompaniment by hammond organ.
Directed by Gospel powerhouse Professor Karen Burke, the 100+ voice choir was backed by a rhythm section directed by Corey Butler.
A tremendous songwriter in her own right, Burke is the founder and artistic director of the York University Gospel Choir. She co-founded the Juno Award-winning Toronto Mass Choir in 1988 and continues to serve as its principal director, touring nationally and internationally. Her work on the stage and in the studio includes collaborations with Alvin Slaughter, Jean Ashworth Bartle and Jackie Richardson.
