Performing Diaspora 2011: Final Showcase

After a full week of intensive drumming, dancing, experiencing, laughing and learning, workshop participants and their lead educators closed the workshop series with a Final Showcase, which featured all the materials learnt in the workshops. This Showcase was a night of performance that was bursting with energy, allowing for all participants to bring all of their newly found learning of the various musical traditions on hand percussive instruments and dances to the stage. We welcomed all members of York University and the community to share this night with us, not only as a celebration of Black History Month but also a celebration of togetherness. Come and Join us on February 25th as we pay tribute to such a rich continent that has spread such a rich knowledge amongst us all and celebrate the various artistic contributions/heritage.
