The Tubman Seminar Series invites interested students and scholars to attend a
seminar by Katrina Keefer of York University on the subject of the West African
Poro secret society and a case of cannibalism and ritual murder prosecuted in
1913.
Katrina Keefer spoke on Tuesday November 2nd from 12:00 noon to
1:30pm at 280N York Lanes. We welcome participants to come and learn more about
the complicated and intriguing narratives of enslavement, agency, resistance,
accomodation and paranoia which this court document reveals, and the insights
it offers into contemporary Sierra Leone society. Everyone is encouraged to
come.
